अंतर्नाद नोव्हें-डिसें २०१४ लेखाबाबत थोडेसे : गणशत्रू, १९८९ मध्ये प्रदर्शित झालेला हा सत्यजित राय यांचा चित्रपट. गणशत्रू म्हणजे समाजाचा शत्रू. विजय पाडळकर यांनी चित्रपटाचा रसास्वाद घेताना तो मूळ ज्या नाटकावरून बेतलाय त्या 'enemy of the people' चाही आपला परिचय करून दिलाय. हे म्हणजे एक पे एक फ्री च की. लेख जरा मोठा आहे पण दम धरून शेवटपर्यंत वाचलात तर नक्की समाधान देईल. नोव्हें-डिसेंबर २०१४ च्या अंतर्नाद अंकात प्रसिद्ध झाला हा लेख तुमच्यासाठी पुनश्च... ********** नाटक व चित्रपट रसास्वाद: An Enemy of the People आणि गणशत्रू माझ्या वडिलांचे शिक्षण उर्दूमधून झाले होते. त्यामुळे बोलता बोलता ते मध्येच एखादा उर्दू शेर सांगत. असेच एकदा निवडणुकीच्या काळात ते म्हणाले होते, ‘जम्हूरीयत (लोकशाही) इकतर्जे हुकूमत है जिस में / बंदो को गिना जाता है, तोला नही जाता.’ ही पन्नास वर्षांपूर्वीची गोष्ट आहे. त्याकाळी भारतात नुकतीच लोकशाही रूजू लागली होती. सुरुवातीचे कौतुकाचे दिवस संपले होते. आणि लोकशाहीतील उणीवांची थोडीफार जाणीव लोकांना होऊ लागली होती. आज, पन्नास वर्षांनंतर लोकशाहीमधील दोष अत्यंत ठळकपणे जाणवत आहेत; पण त्याचबरोबर हेही जाणवत आहे, की लोकशाहीशिवाय पर्याय नाही. विचार करणाऱ्या माणसाच्या मनात आज हे द्वंद्व सुरूच आहे. ‘नायक’ हे सत्यजित राय यांचे जीवन आणि चित्रपट यांचा वेध घेणारे पुस्तक लिहित असता ‘गणशत्रू’ या त्यांच्या चित्रपटाचा विचार करताना इब्सेनचे ‘An Enemy of the People’ हे नाटक पुन्हा एकदा वाचण्यासाठी घेतले होते. ते वाचताना मनात आजच्या समाजजीवनाचे विचारच पु ...

5 वर्षांपूर्वीIs the country not democratic at present? I remember having voted for Loksabha and Vidhansabha. I do not know if Mr Shyam did his duty, if he did then was it not because of democracy? What a stupid thing to say that our country was more democratic in Nehru's time. If Nehru had believed in democracy then he would not have gone to UNO without consulting the parliament, let alone the defence minister. He would not have said that Aksai Chin be given to China without caring for the hue and cry against it in the parliament. The Bharat Ratna award was instituted in 1954 as the highest civilian award and in 1955 it was given to Nehru on the recommendation of the then prime minister. This shows that Nehru did not even have any iota of moral values. Why would such a person care for democracy? Even his election to the post of the prime minister was against democratic processes, as can be easily established from various sources. It is time that we leave such stupid ideas behind and do our best for our nation!

7 वर्षांपूर्वीThis article is an eye opener for all of us. I am also convinced that majority of the people are fools and people who are on the right side have to walk alone. It is equally true that there is no alternative for democracy. So we have to make the right choice.

7 वर्षांपूर्वीThe best article so far. I had heard the name Ibsen but never knew about him except "Dolls house." Satyajit Roy was fortunate that he lived in Pandit Nehru's time. In present days perhaps such a picture will not get any theatre. The country was more democratic and liberal 50 years back. The country was still more democratic 100 years ago. People threatened Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule. But their life was spared. Nowadays Dr. kalburgi is murdered.
